We’re a non-profit organization that believes in the power of entrepreneurship for change.

Our mission is to provide free opportunities for entrepreneurs in our communities to thrive.

2019

In 2019, we saw a need for a free craft and food market for immigrant entrepreneurs, in partnership with the Immigrant Services Association of Nova Scotia.

Now, we’ve expanded to include all new entrepreneurs who can benefit from our programming.

We are entirely volunteer run.

We work to not only provide markets and programming, but to create community.

The Land We’re On

The New Venture was created, conceptualized, and is hosted on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of Mi’kma’ki.

We acknowledge that the colonization of this land and capitalistic economic growth negatively affects the Mi’kmaq community. It is our job, and an integrated piece of New Venture to work to prioritize decolonization.

We work to do this by creating inclusive, community based events, supporting Indigenous entrepreneurs, create opportunity for small business growth and economic degrowth, creating learning opportunities and always learning and listening.

We’re an Enactus Dalhousie Project.

Enactus is a global community of post-secondary students who use entrepreneurship as a way to address social issues.

We are supported each year by a group of students dedicated to New Venture. Enactus Canada has opened our doors to funding opportunities and a network that kickstarted our ability to make change. We began in 2019 as an Enactus project, and everyone involved has been an integral part of achieving our mission.

Our Team

Our team is made up of three core volunteers, who have been dedicated to New Ventures’ mission. Morgan, Tineke and Sarah all serve as the Executive Directors who are supported by independent board members who all help guide the overall strategy of New Venture.
